Have you ever had plants that you just didn’t want to leave alone while going on a trip? Sometimes they are as important as the puppy dog or cat you don’t want to leave alone right?

Well, in case you didn’t know or just haven’t considered trying them, there is a product that will really relieve you of the worry so you can enjoy your trip. They are the helpful assistant better known as the self-watering window flower box & planters.
How the Self-Watering Planters Work
The operation of the system is why it is a great way to water your plants. The important thing is the water is supplied from the bottom up.

The system has a reservoir which holds the water. They are in different sizes depending on which box or planter you purchase.
The water is supplied to the soil through wicks or a strip of water absorbing material which supplies moisture to the roots of your plantings.
A very simple process isn’t it?
I would say the plants and the caring person of the plants will both love this because the roots are getting supplied the right amount of moisture and the caring person doesn’t have to worry if he or she is over or under watering.
Another great thing about this product is you can add your fertilizer & food right to the water nourishing your plants in an ultimate way.

Great post! I’ve actually never heard of this before, what an awesome idea! Thanks for introducing me to the concept. I travel quite a bit therefore having something to self water the plants while I’m gone is very useful. The video at the end was awesome to show me just what this is all about! I am curious to know how long the water lasts in the bottom before you have to refill it? Thanks for the info!

No problem, Briana. I’m sure it will just depend on a few things like the size of the reservoir and the weather condition and so forth. But at least you have the bulb that has a float to let you know when you need to water. In your case of traveling a lot, you could kind of monitor how often you have to add water to give you an idea of what time frame you have to play with. I hoped that answered your question satisfactorily. Thank you for visiting and come back soon.
This actually helps me a lot of because I am currently growing my garden. I worked in the food industry for a long time as a buyer and I see where we buy our produce and meats from so I want to make sure I’m feeding my children the healthiest foods possible so thank you for the info maybe my plants and vegetables will grow faster with this info
I really hope they do. At least this way you don’t have to worry if you are not watering them enough or too much. You should sign up for the Lawn Care News because I will most likely be putting in some garden articles. Thank you for stepping in. Good luck with your vegetables.
People are always looking for easy ways to take care of the lawn and flowers. This looks like it would be a great tool. I really like that you added a video.
Thanks, Mike. I chose to make these post on my lawn service website because I like to let people know what is going on when they call for service or may want to be a DIY person. Also, I want to offer my customers something extra besides me coming out and servicing them. It is always good to get information to keep you in the know. Thank you for stopping in Mike.

Thank you for sharing this great info. I love the video. It really helped me understand how the self watering planters work. My wife would love this. She’s always trying to grow herbs and sometimes forgets to water them. This could be a great help to her.
You are welcome, Bill. Maybe you can surprise her with one of the planters as a gift. If she forgets a lot it will only improve her seedlings and she will have wonderful success at growing her herbs. Tell her to check in from time to time or sign up for the Lawn Care News because I plan to have different articles quite often. Thanks for visiting.
Great ideal, I live in a warm climate where plants need to be water every day or at least every other day in the heat of the summer months.
In your case Bill you can really save yourself a lot of work by using a self-watering box or planter. Did you look around the site to see what was available to you? If not feel free to do so. Thank you for visiting.
